California and down to business

Well we made it here.  We are now looking for housing and once we get a place we can enroll the kids in school.  We cannot enroll the kids until we have a place to live and know what school district we will be in once we know that (and that is my first goal) then I think I can settle down.  In the meanwhile, we are enjoying all the California has to offer.  Marissa is enjoying all of the fresh fish she can handle.

Shane pointed te van to Morro Bay, which is where we stopped for lunch and where we enjoyed our first views of the ocean.  After lunch we went to the ocean and had a blast climbing on rocks ...

Annie and Cameron got their first views ...

Marissa hams it up ...

It is always a plus when I don't fall.

Dipping our feet in the ocean ...

It was very cold ...

We got back in the van and headed towards Monterey.
Shane wanted to drive up the Pacific Coast Highway so the kids could get a great view of the ocean.

It was very long and once again, we had hill on one side and cliff on the other.
For the first hour it was really cool, then it was long and boring.  One of the really cool things is that the evergreen smell is freaking amazing.  If I could bottle that scent, I would send it to you so you could smell it.  It is even better than that fresh cut Christmas tree that you will buy in a few weeks.

On our drive there were vista view pull outs.

They all pretty much look like that.   We were all pretty tired so stopping at every view was not going to happen.  We wanted to rest, so we pushed on to Monterey.

After a good night's rest  we went Whale watching ...
We saw Whales, but they never did jump put of the ocean.  I did manage to get a tail shot...

There were two hump back whales in the area we were in.

We saw seals, sea otters with their young, and lot and lots of birds ...

A walk along the wharf  ...

All along the back are birds ...

This is where I will leave you until the next time.  Our plan is to pop over to a few other communities and look at houses we found that are for rent.  There is one that everyone is excited about that is 1.5 hours away from our current location, we shall see.  It has just about everything we are looking for.

After that we plan on going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Hopefully I will have our new address soon.
