Shane hates MiniVans ...

We got our Pod storage unit delivered and we are ready to load it.  The Salvation Army will be out on Thursday (November 4) to pick up all of the things we are donating.  Getting the Food Bank boxes ready today and the Half-Price Book store donations are almost done (which is a lot of books).

We are waiting on the new Minivan (which Shane absolutely HATES) to be finished being detailed.  It is not so much new, as it is new to us.  We will be spending our journey in a 2004 Dodge Caravan STX Anniversary Edition.  It is pretty loaded (with leather and a DVD player) and has low miles and it was the right price.  Shane hates Minivans.  I am not really sure why, other than he thinks they are ugly.  I think there must be something about a Minivan to a guy that makes them believe it sucks the masculinity from their very beings.  He is almost acting like a male dog when they are neutered ...  It is really sad.

I hope he comes around to owning a Minivan by the time we get to California.  If he does not, then I am trading it in on something else.  I can't stand the whimpering ...

Get Ready ... Get Set ...

Getting things ready to go.  Clearing out an amazing amount of junk we "thought" we needed ...  Shane is feeling a little like a hoarder and I want to agree with him some days.  I cannot believe the amount of sentiment we attach to objects and how much we hang on to those things.  "You can't get rid of that pen ... it belonged to so and so ..."  Really?  I am learning to let go of the "things" and hold tighter to the people who are in my life while they are in it.  This move is so much more than a move.  It is enlightening and very theraputic.

The girls will be keeping journals and writing their own segments on this blog.  We are playing with names for their segments.

Once we hit the road, I will send out updates to Facebook and to e-mail.  Anyone that really knows me knows that I love to take pictures, which explains the title of this blog.  We will be taking lots of pictures and posting the best of the best.  We hope to see the Painted Desert, the Grand Canyon, and several really cool things on our way to California.  We will be driving mostly on Route 66 and we will be stopping at many of the roadside attractions along the way (also a reason for the name ... cheesey).

Wish us luck!
